Aviva Green was born in Washington, D.C. and is a graduate of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. One of her most famous works is the two piece soft sculpture permanently installed under the Chagall Windows at the Hadassah Hospital Chapel in Jerusalem.
Ms. Green maintains a regular exhibition schedule. Her solo exhibitions include a one-woman traveling exhibition sponsored by the U. S. Embassy that included shows at the Benjamin Franklin Gallery of the American Embassy in Mexico City and at the Museum of Art of Guadalajara and the Museum of Art of Monterey, Mexico. Also included in her major exhibitions have been solo shows at Kenkeleba Gallery in New York City and at the National Academy of Sciences in Washington, D.C.
From 1984 to 1991, she was Director of the Mather House Art Program at Harvard University, where she taught painting and drawing. In addition to her position at Mather House, from 1986 to 1991 she held a university appointment as Visiting Artist at Harvard University.
Her works are collected and included in private, public, and corporate collections in Europe and throughout the United States. She works in New York City where she maintains a studio in lower Manhattan.
